I run a burrito shop in Ames, Iowa. We've been open a year now. I've had burritos from SanFrancisco to New York. We sell a hell of a burrito but then I may be biased. I'm the type that likes everything on mine. Unfortunately, in the blur that remains of my wandering youth, I can't make out the names of all the burrito joints I've visited.
So, aside from the major chains (Baja Fresh rates #1 - by the way), the only burrito I can reate with certainty is ours. I think we have the best burrito ever!

Hey Robert, thanks for chiming in. What is the name of your burrito shop? I don't get out to Iowa much (ok never) but hey, ya never know what can happen. And if I'm headin' out your way, I'll be sure to pop in and have a burrito!
BTW, how did you find the site? Random search for burritos, word of (burrito-stuffed) mouth, or what?

Oh yeah, I meant to say that Baja Fresh has been making it's way East. I've eaten there a few times and I have to say, although I am not a big fan of chain anythings, they make a good burrito. I especially like their brown salsa. I love that smoky stuff so much I could just bathe in it.
How do you think they rank to Chipotle? Or Q-doba? I have had Q-doba only, and I must admit, somewhat begrudgingly (since they are a chain), that their burritos are very good. It's been a while since I've been there so the specifics are a bit murky by now, but I remember their chicken to be juicy and flavorful, some corn in there which was quite exciting, the sharp zing of warm melted cheddar and a tasty salsa verde of some sort.
One thing I hate about my burritos is too much rice, not enough meat and cheese. (All filler, no killer...) These places tread the line b/c they do use rice generously, but in my limited experiences, they've kept the rice content down enough for me to deem them worthy enough to prepare burritos for me!
